Best Yoga Poses After Traveling
After traveling (whether by airplane, train, or car), these will help your body come back to life after sitting or being on your feet all day.
For these poses, all you'll need is a wall and a pillow (hopefully two things that you can always find while traveling!).
1) Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani)
This pose is AMAZING for lower back pain, hamstrings, and aching feet. To get into the pose, sit next to the wall with your right shoulder touching, then swing your legs up the wall and lay on the ground. You can bring your hands by your sides or above your head (that's my personal favorite because it stretches my shoulders a bit!). Then just relax.
You should technically do this pose for up to 30 minutes, but if you can even hold it for 5-10 minutes you'll notice a huge difference in how tired your feet and legs are after a long day. Especially if you're walking a lot everyday, you should definitely do this every day if possible. Try to do it when you're checking your Instagram or emails and notice the difference in how much better your feet feel the next morning!
2) Reclined Twist
This is also great for your low back. Start on your back - bend you knees and bring your shins parallel to the ground. Bring your arms to a "T" or cactus position and then lower your legs to the right. Relax into the pose for a minute or two and then hug your knees into your chest and switch sides.
3) Reclined Bound Angle Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana)
This is probably my favorite pose - you could literally take a nap here. Plus it's great for your hips and is a great heart-opener to open up your chest. Roll up a blanket or pillow and place it under your mid and upper-back. Laying down, bring the soles of your feet to touch and your knees out wide. Relax here as long as you want!
